At OneTouch Events, we are lucky to work on an array of events. But when it comes to our social clients, the vow renewals really tug at our heartstrings.
We as planners are touched to play a part when it comes to Vow Renewals. As special as Weddings are, a Vow Renewal proves the test of time, patience, and love. It can happen at the 10-year mark, 25-year mark or even 5 years from saying I Do!
This September, we had the honor of sharing the love of 10 years for Jessica + John. with the Vow Renewal Ceremony taking place at the intimately beautiful United Methodist Chapel in Decatur + Reception at the Historic Dekalb Courthouse.
The story of Jessica becoming our client was so natural. We had taken a visit with another of our couples to the United Methodist Chapel, where Jessica is the Event Manager and she casually mentioned she’d be in need of services for her upcoming 10-year vow renewal. We just lit up at the thought of adding her to our fall line up of love!
John + Jessica are the type of couple who have a natural cadence and rhythm to their love you see almost instantaneously. On our first venue visit where we met John, he greeted Jessica with chicken minis from Chick-Fil-A and a tender smile. As we learned more about them, we knew their special day would be chock full of love.
The couple had a vision to bring the charm from their first wedding, their color scheme (black, white, and hints of gold), with subtle notes such as their original wedding photos to share with guests. We remember like it was yesterday, Jessica said, “here are our colors, now run with it!” and so we did. We sure do love working with a blank canvas!
We took their colors, paid an ode to the gold chargers she loved so much and switched them up for gold Chameleon chairs to throw in a bit of a modern touch. The Historic Dekalb Courthouse is a must-see with its beautiful marble-lined walls. The space is quite beautiful on its own, that when making design selections we chose to play off the natural elements in the room and enhance the existing beauty. Black table linens, pillar candles in every window panel, twinkle lights in closh jars, and the most perfect selection of wildflowers + greenery galore adorned the tables.
We often see where clients get caught up in tradition, or trends and what they think they are “supposed” to do or have at their event, but Jessica + John are a true example of putting their love first. They wanted good food, romantic lighting, and acoustic music to share with those closest to them. It was an intimate affair of 85 guests, 1 peep cake, and Endless Love.
